Built for the 1976 Olympic Games, the Montréal Olympic Stadium is the centrepiece of the spectacular Parc Olympique Montréal.
Each year it attracts around 2.5 million visitors to its varied program of professional sports, concerts and exhibitions. Sports and entertainment feature between April and October with trade shows predominating during the remaining five months.
The impressive structure comprises 34 slanting consoles which give immense surface space and versatility. Opening for trade shows in 1988 after the addition of a roof in 1987, the Stadium is currently the largest exhibition hall in Canada.
Home to the Montréal Alouettes football team and Montréal Expos baseball team since the mid-1970s, improvement work to the stadium has resulted in seating for over 55,000.
A free shuttle service links the Olympic Stadium and the vibrant Maisonneuve Place du Marché, to the south, in the heart of the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve District.
